How long does 3D printing take?
A small component may print in under an hour, while a large detailed model can take days. The most reliable estimate comes from slicing the actual file with the selected machine settings.

What affects print time?
Height is not the only factor; the path traveled on every layer matters too. Two models of equal size can have very different print times because of their geometry.
- Model dimensions and orientation
- Layer height and nozzle diameter
- Infill, wall count, and supports
- Material, machine speed, and quantity
Speed or surface quality?
Thinner layers make slopes look smoother but increase the layer count. Fine layers suit visual prototypes, while thicker layers may be better for quick dimensional checks.
Planning the delivery
File checks, machine availability, cooling, and finishing come after the raw print estimate. State your deadline early so the project can match with a maker who has suitable capacity.
